Cấu trúc thi IELTS Speaking Part 3

Cấu trúc đề thi Speaking của IELTS gồm có 3 phần. Trong đó, IELTS Speaking part 3 là phần cuối cùng của bài thi và cũng được cho là phần thi khó nhằn nhất. 

Thông thường, một phần thi Speaking part 3 sẽ kéo dài từ 4 – 5 phút. Đây là phần thi mang tính chất thảo luận, giám khảo sẽ đưa ra 4 – 5 câu hỏi xoay quanh 1 chủ đề đã đề cập ở part 2. Từ những câu hỏi đó, thí sinh sẽ nêu ra các ý kiến chuyên sâu của mình, mở rộng hơn từ bài thuyết trình trước đó. 

Rất nhiều thí sinh gặp khó khăn và thường bị mất điểm ở phần thi này do không thể vừa trả lời nhanh nhạy, vừa chất lượng, dài và chuyên sâu.

What makes an advertisement effective?

To me, it depends heavily on whether those in charge of the advertisement have a clear idea of their target audience – and plan the content accordingly. Young people are normally attracted by ads that are cool, hip, and fashionable; while older people tend to be more practical-minded.

If the advertisement is geared towards the younger generations, then showing how the product helps them be more attractive, confident, and successful is an idea worth considering. In addition, catchy music also helps attract attention and help listeners remember it.

If you are trying to reach the older generation, explaining how the product will give them better health, or help them relax and be happier may appeal to them.

I think not. Each person has their own unique attitude toward advertisements and the advantages that they bring.

For example, young people are more likely to be influenced by ads that feature celebrities or have a catchy tune. On the other hand, older people tend to be more interested in ads that offer them a discount – or talk about the product’s features in detail.

In general, I think it’s fair to say that young people are more easily swayed by advertising than older people.

For example, in my country, many teenagers and adults alike love to drink Coca-Cola. Why? Because Coca-Cola has been very successful in marketing their product – and we see their ads everywhere we go!

In conclusion, advertising can have a huge impact on people’s purchasing decisions. And more often than not, it is the brands that are able to effectively market themselves that come out on top.

Many children also dote on folk stories because of the meaningful messages they convey, which generally encourage the young to be kind and empathetic.

Well, as far as I’m concerned, there are various ways for parents to spark their children’s interest in books. One of the fantastic ways is to read books to them. Another ideal way is to take them to a book street, where a wide range of books can be found. You know, children can just wander along the street to unwind and browse through the stores at the same time.

Can we learn about someone’s personality based on the clothes they wear? 

In my opinion, I fervently believe that style is a way to say who you are without having to speak. Therefore, the way people choose their outfits and accessories could partly tell about their characters. If they are meticulous and decent, you may see from the way those individuals pay attention to little details in their outfits such as wrinkles in the collar or small stains at the edge of the shirt. In contrast, regarding those who are careless, their clothes might not be relatively decent and sometimes they might not be well-groomed.

From what I’ve seen, it’s safe to say that the fashion style of youngsters is in stark contrast to that of senior people. In terms of the latter, here in Vietnam, the elderly used to experience the war, when our country was torn apart by bombs and bullets and in dire need of support, people literally wore anything that could keep them warm and protect them from the heat. Therefore, the mindset of having enough clothes to wear as a privilege has been rooted in older people’s minds. They generally lean toward simple, plain, and not pricey clothes. Having said that, the younger generation arguably considers clothes to be part of their identity, a way to show their personality. They mostly are keen on trendy, fashionable clothes with fancy bells and whistles.

Do you agree that expensive clothes are always better quality than cheap clothes?

In my opinion, I reckon that clothes which are relatively pricey are not necessarily superior in quality to their cheaper counterparts. Because the market is becoming saturated with more and more homogeneous products, raising brand awareness is of the essence. Therefore, many luxury brands have allocated a considerable percentage of their budget on promoting their products such as commercial ads or celebrity endorsements. From that point, the price of an expensive shirt might also include the money for other expenses, which leads to a more expensive price.

Why do people change the style of their clothes as they grow older?

Although I cannot speak for everyone, I suppose that as we gradually become adults, we must look the part in the workplace, wearing casual clothes at business meetings or formal workplace would be forbidden and inappropriate. Although I can’t speak for everyone, from what I have seen, it’s safe to say that Vietnamese women love wearing áo dài for photoshoots in beautiful settings. During Tết (Lunar New Year) you’ll see the dress in all its glory as women wear it to visit friends and family, and pay tribute at temples and shrines. What decisions do people usually make in their daily lives?

Well, if you’re referring to minor decisions, they can be as basic as choosing what to have for lunch, what kind of transport should be taken to work, whether to bring a raincoat along when seeing the sky turning gray,…However, people do have to make important decisions throughout their lives, which might include choices about where to live, what to do as a job, how to spend time and money wisely, and who to be in relationships with. The way we make life-changing decisions shapes the person we are, and our values are accordingly defined.

In my opinion, making decisions by yourself may be faster, but you would find yourself not having as many ideas and less likely to reach the most judicious decision. I believe when the decision is made by a group rather than a single individual, the implementation of it will be easier because group members will be invested in the decision with different ideas based on their background and experiences.

Why are many young people unwilling to follow their parents’ advice?

Well, I think it all goes down to the fact that young people’s role models have changed, and some of parents’ pieces of advice no longer produce the outcome they desire or might be inappropriate to keep due to their new living environments or new ways of thinking. Instead, social media influencers are increasingly gaining their popularity, by expressing the collective values of young people and addressing the issues facing today’s youth. These people provide a voice and a cohesive force for a generation that often feels displaced or separated from traditional forms, most of which derive from their own parents.

Why would middle-aged people tend to second-guess their own decisions?

The way I see it, when people get older, and may be wiser, their tendency to second-guess their own decisions can be amplified by a sense of regret. They often look back at the choices they made and decide if they were ‘good’ or ‘bad’, and people who feel they made unwise, unsafe, foolish or rash choices are more likely to pass judgements about themselves. This indicates that a person has become more of a perfectionist, who often pauses to weigh the pros and cons before any verdict is reached.

What kind of things can young people learn from old people?

I volunteered at a nursing home when I was in college, and all the old people there told me two things. First of all: Don’t take things too seriously. A lot of them told me they ended up there because they were very harsh on their friends, their children, even themselves. They wanted everything their way, so much that they shunned away people who couldn’t uphold that standard, and now they are here, alone. Another thing that a lot of them told me was to live to my heart’s content.

Almost every single elder I talked to told me they have so many regrets. They regret that there are so many things they should have done but didn’t, sometimes because of a sense of responsibility towards their family, sometimes because of their ego. A grandma even told me that if young people are haunted by the “What ifs” only at night, then when they are old, it would haunt them at every waking moment. I don’t know about you, but I find that very educational and scary at the same time.

I personally think that parents should encourage their children to truly seek what they enjoy in life. Then the kid spends so much time and effort to keep up with all the expectations their parents have for them that they don’t have the chance to explore who they really are, what they want to do in life, and that could really lead them to many problems, mostly mental, when they become adults. So if parents truly want their children to be happy, guide them, and encourage them to live their best life, instead of trying to make them live the life that they want.

Why do teachers need to be kind to students?

There are plenty of reasons for this but I think the most significant one is that, to some students, especially younger ones, teachers are the only positive parental figure that they could look up to. What I mean is that not every child comes from a good environment, and going to school is the only time of day where they can be around good influences. So if their teachers are mean and rude, it can really shape the way they grow up and their viewpoint towards the world, and most of the time not to good ends. Therefore, I always try my best to treat my students with respect and care, because you can never really know what someone is going through.

Không học thuộc câu trả lời mẫu

Chỉ với 1 lần tìm kiếm, bạn sẽ dễ dàng thấy được hàng nghìn bài trả lời mẫu (sample answer) theo band điểm mong muốn. Nhiều bạn mới học IELTS Speaking Part 3 thường lầm tưởng rằng, chỉ cần học thuộc các câu trả lời này thì khi đi thi, lỡ “trúng tủ” thì khả năng “ăn điểm” sẽ cao hơn. 

Tuy nhiên, đây là một ý tưởng vô cùng sai lầm. Bởi nhìn chung, đề thi IELTS được thiết kế để kiểm tra chính xác nhất khả năng tiếng Anh toàn diện của thí sinh. 

Do đó, dù học thuộc một bài trả lời mẫu với nhiều cấu trúc ngữ pháp nâng cao, từ vựng hiếm thì bạn vẫn có thể bị trừ điểm Pronunciation (phát âm không chuẩn), hoặc Fluency and Coherence (trình bày thiếu trôi chảy, mạch lạc). 

Yêu cầu được lặp lại câu hỏi nếu không nghe rõ hoặc chưa hiểu ý

Trong các nguyên do khiến điểm IELTS Speaking Part 3 của bạn “thi mãi không cao”, trả lời lạc đề cũng là một trong những nguyên do mang tính quyết định.
